1. You have thick hair (stylist may require more time to service this type of hair).
2. You have long hair (stylist may require more time to service this type of hair).
3. You have curly hair and want it styled straight OR if you have straight hair and want it styled curly...please let them know as this requires extra time as well as it may incur extra charges.
4. You ever have been told that your gray hair is resistant to color or process longer let them know this as this will require more time and different formulations of color.
5. You want a total makeover or completely different look.
6. You aren't sure about what style you want and require extra time with the stylist to consult on this.
7. You are new to the stylist as this always requires extra time for consultations.
8. You want to do a Precise Bob..this sometimes requires more time especially if you have coarse or thick hair.
9. You are coming in to do a corrective color service, request an experienced stylist as this will help to avoid having to come back for another corrective color service.
1. It is recommended to request that your appointment won't be double booked when you are a new client.
2. It is recommended that if you are a new client and have had prior bad experiences, for your comfort that you make your first visit just a consultation to get to know the stylist as well as the salon.
3. It is recommended that if you are under time constraints that you call ahead to let the stylist know if this will work for the both of you, after all we want this to be a relaxing enjoyable experience and not something you are stressed out about.
4. It is recommended that if you are running late, you call to see if the stylist still has time or to reschedule the appointment.
5. Bring in photos if you have a particular cut, color, or style in mind. It helps to have both you and your stylist on the same page.
6. Tell stylist about your best and worst experiences pertaining to hair salon visits, as this will help to make your experience better.
7. It is recommended that you do not wear expensive clothes or clothes that you love to your service to avoid anything bad happening to them.
1. Please be aware that any color that needs correcting (especially those done at home) are considered a corrective color so time and cost can only be estimated with a consultation.
2. "Trims" are still considered a Haircut which includes the shampoo, cut and style. It requires the same amount of time any other haircut does. Unless it is just a neck trim, bang trim, or other arrangements were made with stylist. We have dedicated our career to what we create and it is not what we cut off but what we leave on that makes the style work.
3. If there is any kind of tension or frustration, ie..stylist is running late, or stylist isn't listening to what you are saying, or you are in a hurry..it is better to just have the consultation and then reschedule or cancel your hair appointment, an inexperienced stylist could work under too much pressure and tension and it could lead to unwanted results.
4. Don't be afraid of telling the stylist exactly what is on your mind, not saying something won't benefit you or the stylist.
5. If you are from out of town or are not planning on coming back...don't tell this to your stylist as some (NOT ALL) stylist may charge you more or not do their best work.
6. If you are tired of your current style or you feel that your stylist has been doing the same thing over and over, let them know and give them another chance before you leave for another salon.
7. When getting your hair colored either by a new stylist or for changing the color completely, it could take up to 3 services to get exactly what you want, you can help this process by letting your stylist know if there is anything you like or don't like. As well as your stylist should be honest in where exactly your lay in your progression for your perfect hair color. Changing from stylist to stylist in search of this hair color is not the best for your hair.
8. If you love the color formula being used but you are moving away and will no longer be able to see your stylist, ask him/her for the formula and history to take with you. I believe that any true artist will do this for you.
9. Try not to be late for your appointment "it will only work to your disadvantage".
While at the salon
1. If you enjoy getting your hair shampooed, increase your chances of getting a longer and more intense scalp massage by keeping your eyes closed (staring at your stylist makes for an uncomfortable experience for both you and your stylist) OR just simply let your stylist know this is your favorite part.
2. Let the stylist know if you liked or enjoyed the service or that you will be back...pre booking your next appointment will help establish a better relationship with your stylist.
3. Don't ever tell the stylist to "Do whatever they want" unless you really mean it.
4. If receptionists or stylist fail to tell you how much your service will cost, how long it will take, and the maintenance involved in the style...make sure you ask so that you will know what to expect ahead of time and be able to plan accordingly.
5. If you liked your hair after service, remind your stylist to keep notes of what was done. "since not all stylists do so".
Plan something fun to do immediately after your visit so that you can enjoy your beautiful hair.
Everything mentioned above is for your benefit. It enables the stylist to have more time to spend with you to make you feel comfortable and enjoy your experience.
Remember that good stylists perform the same whether fast or slow, we are trained to work under pressure, but there are certain parts of the service that cannot cheat time and you will be the only one missing out if this is the case.
