Hair extensionsMethodsKeraTip, Super KeraTip, Pro-tube (copper), Plastic Tube (shrinky), Skin Weft...To choose the method, amount and color of hair extensions depends on client's hair type, lifestyle, and desired results. Points to consider: Existing hair style and hair color. Existing hair length, density and texture of hair. Is client looking for length, density or both? How often the client shampoos and styles their hair? How often chemical services will be performed? How long the client intends to keep the extensions? Hair Extensions are not for everybody but most can have it if they have a professional consultation followed with the appropriate method, application, and instructions.
Most of the time when a person has thinning problems, hair extensions is not the solution. Thinning means that the clients hair is coming out and hair extensions is just extra tension on the hair which in the long run can cause extra damage to the hair.
Hair extensions are fun and are a great accessory for a new look as long as you take care of them. Care tipsAll hair used is 100% human hair, and can be flat ironed, curled, and cut like normal hair. If Skin Weft or Keratip systems were used, wait 48 hours before shampooing hair to give time for the bond to set and harden properly, or the extensions will loosen and detach.Consult your stylist for proper shampoo & conditioner. Shampooing is not recommended more than a couple of times a week. Do not turn your head upside down to wash. Always wash and rinse shampoo and conditioner in luke warm water. Never HOT water on the scalp. Gently massage your shampoo at the root area getting in between the attachments and your scalp to remove any oils built up. The mid-shaft and ends will be cleansed sufficiently when rinsing out the shampoo. Conditioning all hair whether yours or extensions is a must. I recommend conditioning every time you shampoo your hair. Always apply conditioner mid-shaft down to the ends. Do Not apply to the scalp or bonded area. Do Not comb or brush with conditioner in the hair. Rinse thoroughly in luke warm water, never hot. You should always complete your routine with a leave-in conditioner! If you have an oily scalp wash when needed as build up of natural oils could lead to your bonds slipping or falling out. Do Not wash and go to bed with wet hair! Never let roots air dry! Always blow dry root area completely. Do not use overly hot air. Hair must be dry and either braided or pony-tailed before sleeping. Not doing so will result in extreme matting of the hair extensions as well as your own hair. Avoid getting hair wet in swimming pools, hot tubs and other water containing chlorine. Ocean and sea water can also tangle the hair. Always use a swim cap if you must swim. You can also presoak hair with bottled or shower water and conditioner before swimming. Always use a loop brush on single strand extensions. A boar bristle brush well also work on single strand and Skin Weft. We recommend to begin brushing at the ends first, then moving up to the mid-shaft and finally brushing the roots area last. Always remembering to hold the extensions at bond area to avoid tension on your roots. Dry hair using the least amount of tension when blowing warm air at the roots. Hot rollers, curling irons, straighten irons and Velcro rollers are all okay for your hair. Always use a thermal spray to protect your hair. Coloring of all extension hair is not recommended! Some virgin hair may be colored but consult your stylist in these rare cases. Do not use shampoos or conditioners that contain oils or fruit acids, such as wheat germ, citrus and excessive protein can damage the bond. DO NOT USE SERUMS. If skin weft or keratin hair extensions were used hot weather either humid or not, can loosen hair extensions. Its also not recommended to create an excess of heat for the first 48 hours by working out, going to hot tubs, sauna, steam room, etc. as this will also loosen the bonds. EXTENSIONS SHOULD ALWAYS BE APPLIED BY A CERTIFIED STYLIST! Hair extensions is high maintenance. It feels great to get a good hair cut and it feels great going shorter because it gives you a new look and a new feel about you, but it is an absolutely amazing feeling going longer and there wont be anyone that wont notice your new style...
